Leaving the Country? Do Some Research Before You Go!
Visiting another country, especially for the first time, can be a very fearful experience; especially if you are not familiar with the language. You are exploring unknown territory and aren’t familiar with the customs and traditions. However, you can ease your anxieties by thoroughly researching your foreign destination and learning the language basics prior to your arrival.
Two major aspects of international travel that have to be addressed is accomodations and language. Hotels in other countries are normally similar to those found in your homeland. There may be a few slight differences, such as no television, phone lines or systems, or even the décor of the guest room. For example, a hotel in the Caribbean typically does not have a television. They will contain phones, but sometimes the phone only reaches the front desk and does not dial out to any part of the city.
Despite where you choose to stay during your travel adventure, you need to make sure you are able to speak the language of the country you’re visiting. For example, don’t you think it’s frustrating you come upon visitors to your country that can’t speak your language? Well, the same holds true for your own trips. Never go to another country expecting them to speak English. Not only will it help you understand the country and its customs, but it can also be very beneficial in the event of an emergency.
